The Agency was established in 1957 and based in Jakarta. LAN head office is situated in Jl Veteran No 10 Jakarta. The Agency owned 4 representative offices (Pusat Kajian dan Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Aparatur - PKP2A), situated in Banda Aceh, Jatinangor Bandung, Makassar, and Samarinda. The Agency is under and responsible to the President of Republic Indonesia. The National Institute of Public Administration is led by a Chairman and currently held by Agus Dwiyanto. He is assisted by 5 deputy.
